This morning we headed back to Søndervig where we checked out the annual Scandinavian sand sculpture festival, which this year had the old Rome as its theme. Whereas the actual place was rather small, the sand sculptures were pretty impressive and had an amazing amount of detail to them… We found Remus and Romelus being fed by the wolf, the seven hills of Rome, a huge acropolis and several big, nasty looking gladiators and mythical creatures like Medusa.
From there, we went southwards to Sjern where we had planned to go canoeing… We arrived at Skerjn badhaven to find a river swept with currents but no canoes whatsoever, so we had a wee walk around the place and found another odd sculpture thing standing in the middle of a field, which we think has an oratory function of some sort, as it had a wee stand where you could put papers.
Being disappointed by the lack of canoeing, we changed our plans and headed for Herning as I had seen an add for a photography museum there. After spending quite some time trying to find the place, we finally entered the most awesome collection of cameras I’ve ever encountered!! Cue a lot of drooling on my behalf… All cameras were exhibited by decade, starting around the 1850’s, with a big display for Leica’s, kodacks, prackticas, Russian, Hungarian and German cameras. I took home the book published by the museum which contains an anthology of most existing cameras in the world and which showcases work from famous Danish photographers… One happy lady here!
On the way back we stopped in Videbæk for coffee and Danish, which turned into a fight with a coffee machine, but produced a yummy espresso-chocolatte after all… From there we took a wee break near Kloster and went into “Adventure Land”. Another game of minigolf, on a fancy pansy track this time, which was once again won by himself. We also discovered there was a course for football/handballgolf so we had to try that! We opted for the footballgolf and set off on the 9 hole course, which contained loads of obstacles you had to get through/over/under/past with your football … Pretty cool indeed… Oh, and I won :)
Another night in our wee cabin this evening and then we’re off to Legoland!
Yay!
