We made it home safe and soundly. Here’s a small round up of our Scandinavian voyage…

4470 kilometres driven, with nearly 2000 of that before we had even reached our destination! 5 tanks of diesel for that.

4 different currencies used: euros, Danish and Swedish kroners, and pounds.

11 countries/nations crossed… Ireland, England, France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Wales, Scotland and northern Ireland.

5 ferries and one train. Best ferry was from Malmø to Travemunde, which we booked the day before sailing; the only cabins left were really loverly, with television and fridge and fancy beds. Worst ferry was Amsterdam - Newcastle, which rocked and rocked and rocked us over choppy waves.

Coolest bridge is the one between Køpenhavn and Malmø, which seems to disappear into the sea if you drive it from the Swedish side… The ferry sailed underneath the bridge around 11.30 pm which was extremely awesome!

Worst roads: Holland. Worst motorway drivers: Ireland. Only place where you get overtaken, doing 130, by first a Nissan Micra and secondly by a Masseratti: Germany. Most organised road system: Denmark.

Games of minigolf: 5, all won by himself. Also experienced footballgolf and snookergolf. Random go carts and canoes too.

Places with honourable mention: Århus, Ringkøbing, Køpenhavn, Gothenburg.

Random accidental encounter: Haidans wall, cumbria, near Carlisle.

Animal not found: the elk. (although we did get half lost in the Swedish woods). Animal most encountered: zillions and zillions of wee Gothenburgian frogs.

Most impressive road trains: double trailered trucks in Sweden. Most impressive transport: trucks carrying the blades for windmills.

Best drink: elderflower cider (mise), corsendonck agnus (himself). Nicest food: fish dish in Esjberg.

Town with the strangest vibe: Landskrone. City least liked: Roskilde. Amusement park visited: Legoland!

Some photos to follow!

With special thanks to our hosts in Belgium, Køpenhavn and Gothenburg!
